This section looks at several architecture awards in other countries — England, America, Australia and the AR Award.
The AR Award for Emerging Architecture
The British magazine Architectural Review (AR) grants an annual award for “Emerging Architecture” to the work of young architects. In the latest cycle, the selected and commended projects came from around the world: a community centre in Australia, sea-bathing facilities in Denmark, a viewing platform in Norway, a terrace addition in Ireland, a WOHA apartment in Singapore, a water-tower conversion in Denmark, and a cemetery in Italy. These projects show how feasible and buildable the ideas of young architects can be, and looking at them makes the future hopeful.
The RAIA National Architecture Awards (Australia)
The National Architecture Awards of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA) have been held regularly every year since 1981 and are among the most important architecture awards in Australia. The RAIA was formed in 1930 from the country's state architectural institutes. It attaches importance to the architectural profession, to promoting design in urban spaces and in commercial and residential buildings, and to sustainability; the award winners are selected from across Australia.
The Peter Johnson Architecture Archive
The Peter Johnson Architecture Archive, held at Australia's architectural research library, keeps the records of all participants in the RAIA awards.
