International competition for the design of the Brunico Transport Centre, Italy
- Competition rules: Open — two-stage
- Registration deadline: 1 November 2000 (30 Aban 1379)
- Eligibility: All architects, from any country, may enter.
- Entry fee: €200 — refunded to participants eliminated after the first stage.
- Prizes: at the end of the first stage the jury selects 10 projects whose designers are invited to the second stage. First prize €42,805 · second prize €28,405 · third prize €20,658 · fourth prize €15,494.

The 8th Aga Khan Award for Architecture (1999–2001)
The Aga Khan Award, founded in 1977 on a three-year cycle and now in its eighth cycle, is one of the largest international architecture prizes and the most prestigious award for Islamic architecture. It is led by a Steering Committee under His Highness the Aga Khan, and the total prize fund is US$500,000 — the largest in world architecture. A Master Jury ultimately judges the projects. Since 1977 more than 6,000 projects worldwide have been evaluated in this competition; for the eighth cycle the Master Jury will review 75 projects.

Isla Vista, Santa Barbara competition

The aim of this two-stage competition is the design of the Isla Vista area in Santa Barbara. In the first stage, the organisers will select five finalist schemes. The key criterion for selection is the revitalisation of the Isla Vista area. After the first stage, the organisers will negotiate directly with the selected designers about detailed design for the second stage.
The International Union of Architects competition — “The Architect and Water”
Water has become one of the most important concerns of humanity. UNESCO has designated 22 March 2000 as “Water for the 21st Century.” In response, the International Union of Architects (UIA) has, in order better to define the relationship between water and architecture, opened this opportunity to architects and architecture students in a competition called “The Architect and Water.”
