Captain Office Renovation Architect: Bahare Mohamadzade, Alireza Sedghi Location: Tehran, Iran Date: 2017 Area: 150 sqm Status: Completed Client: Captain Foods Company Project Manager: Alireza Sedghi Construction: Alireza Sedghi, Caro Design Photo: Deed Studio This project is located on the second floor of a forty-years-old building on Beheshti Street, one of the most prominent districts of Tehran. Despite the heavy traffic and congestion of this area, which has always been a major cause of stress in employees, the original interior design of the office contained classical cream wallpapers and the dark wood decorations, plus the absence of natural light in entrance hall, would have added a tangible burden on its user. Therefore, foremost approach for the interior design of this office was to create a quiet and plain space, away from the city’s hustle and bustle to increase the enthusiasm and efficiency of space users, staffs or the guests. The client’s demand of a private office, assigned for management meetings held by limited number of employees, and paying attention to the customer-induced feelings at the time of entry that could have a significant role in the overall success of the company, plus the exciting challenge of using the specific advertising features of company’s products, derived from the sea and the ships, were important factors in shaping our design concept. At the entrance hall, the secretory space was integrated with the waiting room and a long hallway. There were two simple walls, without any visual appeal of 7/60 and 5/70 meters in front of and parallel to each other, created a long way of 10 meters in length. Moreover, the lack of any windows in the entrance hall, where the secretory was located, added to the darkness and the boredom of the area.
