The Islamic Cultural Center of Northern California (ICCNC) is located in the former Scottish Rite Cathedral on Madison Street in Oakland. The cathedral was built in 1908-1909 in the Mission Revival style by the firm of O'Brien & Werner, who built most of the early 20th-century Masonic temples in California. The ICCNC was founded in 1995 and purchased the building to convert it to a mosque and cultural center. In addition to prayer space, the center includes a library, a large banquet hall in the basement, and the main auditorium, which retains the cathedral's original pipe organ.Sources:Cerny, Susan Dinkelspiel.
