Nimkat Cafe Architect: Special Space Studio (Mojtaba Tasallot, Hossein Namazi) Location: Tehran, Iran Date: 2017 Area: 36 sqm Status: Completed Client: Mrs. Gholizadeh Design Team: Mahyar Tasallot, Nastaran Hasani Construction Team: Mohammad Tasallot, Javid Bayat, Omid Deylami Photo: Heydar Hedayati, Mojtaba Tasallot Nimkat cafe was designed by considering café as a hang out and developing the form of bench as an iconic image of the hang out. Lack of space, was our main challenge, and the project seeks to use architectural design to maximize the space to fit many more benches. Thus, by forming a secondary shell, we made a special diagram that divides the café into two parts: A section of the shell forms the benches and other section provides circulation area, possible for extra infill. At the end, we covered one face of this cubic form with a reflective surface to make a virtual image of the special structure on the other side and to complete our diagram.
