The Cyprus of Abarkuh is estimated to be 4,000 years old, making it one of the oldest living organisms in the world, and the oldest tree in Iran. The tree may be the same as that mentioned by the geographer Hamd-Allah Mustawfi in his description of the region composed in 1339/740 AH. Today it is a protected landmark.Sources:Hūšang Aʿlam, "Cypress." Encyclopaedia Iranica. Vol. VI, Fasc. 5, pp. 505-508. Published online
