Two Houses for Two Friends is a residential project on an 8×12-metre plot in Gonbad-e Kavus, designed by Firouz Firouz. The project won the 1st Grand Memar Award in 2001 with a score of 29 out of 35, the highest in its edition.

The jury unanimously cited the project for its ability to create architecture that is "unassuming yet with distinction," its hierarchy of transition from public to private space, the architect's attention to small urban projects in shaping the city, and for creating "a credible alternative against the fashions of the market."

Juror Mohsen Mirheydar praised the work's "simplicity, humility, and nobility," calling it "the best residential work submitted" with "well thought-out details." Kamran Afshar Naderi described it as "not just a building and a house" but "an urban work" that shows "a kind of courage" and "raises an unconventional subject," noting its relationship with "the principles of Iranian architecture" in its separation of interior and exterior and attention to climate. Iraj Kalantari highlighted how "the architect, before thinking about architecture, attends to the pattern of habitation." Mohammadreza Joudat called it "a very good work" representing "a strong minimalist tendency." Even Bahram Shirdel, who found it "to a great extent conservative," acknowledged it as "a good work."
