Memar Award 2011

The eleventh edition of the Memar Award was held with three categories: Public Buildings, Residential Buildings, and Renovation. The competition attracted entries from across Iran, showcasing the breadth and vitality of contemporary Iranian architecture.

As in previous years, the judging process was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, jurors reviewed digital submissions including photographs, drawings, and project descriptions. Projects that passed this initial screening were then visited in person by the jury panel, who assessed the buildings firsthand before making their final selections.

This year's winners demonstrate a remarkable range of architectural approaches — from the cloud-inspired glass sports hall of Noor-e Mobin in Semnan to the snow-landscape-integrated Barin Ski Resort in Shemshak, from the contextually sensitive Pedri Guesthouse in Khansar to the innovative folded-volume residential apartment in Abadan. The Renovation category highlighted thoughtful transformations including the Amir Villa in Karaj and the Golabdareh House renovation.
