BBPR - Banti, Belgiojoso, Peressutti, Rogers, 1958
The 106 m tall commercial /residential Velasca tower was built in the centre of a city whose administrators were very sensitive to cultural /urban issues. In fact, there are only two towers in the central area of Milan, the other being Pirelli. Its form is a Modernist interpretation of the massive Lombard defence towers that have a much larger mass at the top, thus presumably considered to work with the city skyline.
