Materials & Construction Workshop — First term, Yazd Faculty of Architecture
The Materials & Construction Workshop is a step-by-step, purposeful course oriented toward acquaintance with the elementary materials of architecture, and toward developing in the student the courage and capacity for creativity and initiative — eventually leading to the recognition of a good piece of work and to its making.
This task — which is in fact an introduction for early-stage students who are often unacquainted with architectural concepts — was carried out in the second semester of academic year 1379-80 at the Yazd Faculty of Architecture, in the form of building a bench in the school precinct with regard to its location and to such matters as function, strength, and beauty.

The exercise is in effect the result of all the exercises carried out during the term, and all of its stages — initial design, sourcing of materials, execution, and supervision — were the responsibility of the students themselves (with the assistance and collaboration, of course, of the workshop's tutor). It is hoped that the work has earned the standing to be present and to show itself in a building as beautiful and historic as the Yazd Faculty of Architecture (the Rasoulian House).
