Baghjanat House in Abbas Abad, Isfahan, won joint Third Place in the Individual Dwellings category at the 15th Memar Award (2015). Designed on a plot of approximately 100 square meters, the project posed a fundamental challenge within Isfahan's dense urban fabric: how to provide a desirable quality of life in such a limited space.
The designer's answer was creating a semi-transparent wooden plane on the house's main facade. This plane acts as an architectural veil: from the outside it preserves the home's privacy, and from the inside it delivers light and air to the interior spaces. The wooden facade texture casts varying light and shadow patterns on the interior throughout the day, creating a changing experience of natural light. The spatial organization of the house is arranged across several height levels, with each level assigned a specific function. Baghjanat House demonstrates that good architecture does not necessarily require ample space.
