Rahman Shokouhi, Amir Pourmohammad, Mehdi Ghadiri Location: Tehran, Iran Date: 2014 Status: Competition Proposal / 2nd Place Client: Sharif Technology University Presence of geometry is considered as one of the inseparable elements of Iranian architecture. Geometrical lines prolong in X and Y axis and form two-dimensional shapes. From integration of these shapes, beautiful mixtures will be created, notwithstanding their complexity, they are full of part and whole relation, therefore they will accompany with legibility, with its existence. By adding Z parameter and changing that, these two-dimensional shapes area will be resulted. Area which is resulted from geometry where with the presence of human creates “Architecture”. In this proposal, square and repetition and 45 degree rotation according to visual and access axis are used for providing the possibility of broadening of vision of viewer to the university enclosure and finally choosing the right path. Five squares are chosen by considering two roadways access in sides, four sidewalks access in edges and a symbolic access in central axis. The Symbolic access is located in the turning point of the portal of structure and water axis and figurative element of knowledge are along it. This complex and and university background are visible from the behind of “Fakhr-o-Madin” which is inspired by “Fin Garden” in Kashan. At the end of structure and perpendicular to entrance axis, two sentry boxes are located which are responsible for monitoring traffic of pedestrian and roadway. Sentry boxes are covered by spider glasses for providing better vision and control. In this proposal, exposed concrete is used as main structure and brick is used as the final cover (in coordination with used materials in available structures in the university).
