Proposé

A proposal for the Iranian Embassy in Stockholm, designed by Farhad Ahmadi & Associates for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (May 2001). The design responds to the lakeside natural setting mandated by Stockholm municipality, creating a building envelope harmonious with the Scandinavian landscape. The concept begins with an absolute plane of panels elevated slightly above ground, which is then disrupted to create volumetric movements. One side rises like a tent while the other settles into a horizontal axis, generating a central fissure that separates opposing masses. The design weaves nuclear concepts and symbolic elements from Iranian architectural vocabulary with crystalline forms drawn from contemporary world architecture, using natural materials that carry the gravity of the Scandinavian region.
