Isfahan Science and Technology Park Laboratories and Pre-Incubator
محوطه ساختمانهای آزمایشگاه و پیشانکوباتور شهرک علمی-تحقیقاتی اصفهان
The Isfahan Science and Technology Park Laboratories and Pre-Incubator won Third Place in the Public Buildings category at the 9th Memar Award (2009). Designed by Tadj-Farzin Consulting Group, the 4,500 m² complex on a 300 m² lot within the Isfahan Industrial University campus features a landscape-driven design that integrates architecture with topography.
Kamran Afshar Naderi observed that the designer attempted to create an urban space through stepped terraces connecting different levels, moving beyond mere visual relationships to address spatial connectivity. Reza Daneshmir noted that the landscape strategy resolves topographical challenges while the stepped forms create varied spatial sequences. Hossein Sheikh Zeinoddin appreciated the project's weak points being honestly acknowledged, noting it is a strong and noteworthy work overall. Franco Micucci praised the near-minimalist simplicity and the successful positioning within the site.
The stepped concrete forms create dramatic ramps and amphitheater-like spaces, while the golden brick facade of the laboratory buildings provides a warm counterpoint to the raw concrete of the landscape elements. The project demonstrates how institutional architecture can be woven into its terrain rather than imposed upon it.
