Isfahan's most ornate bridge, combining the functions of bridge, dam, and gathering place. Its two-tiered structure features painted tilework pavilions and sluice gates that create a stepped waterfall effect. Shah Abbas II built it in 1650 on the foundations of an older Timurid bridge.
