Koubi House (Desert House)

The Koubi House, also known as the Desert House, is a climate-responsive residential project designed by Firooz Firooz in 2003. Located in the arid desert region of Iran, the 510-square-meter house represents a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional desert architecture. The design draws inspiration from the building traditions of Yazd, Kashan, and Kerman, incorporating elements such as the dome, ivan, and badgir (wind catcher) in a modern idiom. The house features an organic, curved exterior skin with perforated brick walls that regulate solar radiation and air circulation, creating a natural climate-control system.
