Lolagar Building on Neauphle-le-Chateau Street (Shahid Hossein Khodadad Street) in Tehran is a Reza Shah-era building that won joint Second Place in the Renovation category at the 15th Memar Award (2015). The project involved converting this historic building into a complex comprising a gallery, restaurant, and residential units. The primary challenge was preserving the building's historical and architectural values while adapting it to new functional needs.
The design team, respecting the building's identity, preserved the main facade elements and internal structure, implementing necessary changes in a reversible manner. The facade was restored while maintaining its Reza Shah-era ornaments and details, with windows, cornices, and plaster decorations carefully reconstructed. On the ground floor, the gallery space with its high ceilings and appropriate natural lighting has created an ideal venue for art exhibitions.
