
The building, conceived to house a collection of ancient books and other objects is situated in the town of Mashad, an important pilgimmage center. It constitutes a new addition to the shrine complex with its ancient mosques, schools, mausolea, bathhouses and bazaars. It is a three-storey structure with a central elevator and stair core surrounded by three polygonal exhibition halls. The exterior facaddes are highly articulated and are peirced by rectangular and arched openings.Source: Aga Khan Trust for Culture
