The Mellat Park Cineplex, located in District 3 of Tehran within the southern grounds of Mellat Park, is a landmark cultural complex designed by Fluid Motion Consulting Engineers (Reza Daneshmir and Catherine Spiridonoff). Spanning approximately 6,000 square meters with a total built area of 15,000 square meters, the building integrates seamlessly with the park landscape through its distinctive green roof and fluid, curving form.
The project won unanimous first place in the Public Buildings category of the 8th Memar Award (2008). Juror Farokh Ghahremanpour praised the building: "The plan of this project is very good. It is a building where the volume and proportions are handled well, and the relationship between interior and exterior space is interesting." Farhad Ahmadi noted that "this building's most distinctive feature is the relationship between the park and the building, and the way in which the landscape becomes an integral part of the architecture. The internal spaces are also well-resolved."
The building's topography within the park creates a sense of spatial continuity, with its undulating form echoing the natural landscape. The structure consists of three interconnected sections employing a block system with flat slabs, double walls, and steel columns. The Grand Eyvan — the massive cantilevered concrete overhang — creates a dramatic covered public space that mediates between interior and exterior. Housing cinemas, a restaurant, exhibition spaces, a science center, and a VIP cinema, the complex accommodates approximately 300 visitors within a compact 15-meter-tall volume.
