This guest house stands beside the adobe houses built by the artist Richard Tuttle on a windswept desert mesa. Its form lets the turbulent winds pass through its centre. Built in Kansas City, Missouri, in 21 prefabricated pieces, the house was bolted together on site, and its interior was made by local plaster craftsmen. (A second prefabricated house was exhibited at the Basilica Palladiana, Vicenza, in 2002 and then rebuilt beside it.)
