Villa No. 2, Narenj Complex

Villa No. 2 in the Narenj Complex, designed by Pouya Khazaeli Parsa, received second place in the Individual Dwellings category at the 6th Memar Award (2006). The jury noted this villa's central courtyard concept as a distinctly new and abstract reinterpretation of the traditional Iranian garden. The design draws upon Iranian architectural heritage — not through imitation but through conceptual abstraction. Bahram Shokouhian observed that the project represents a kind of contemporary architecture that engages historical patterns while creating something genuinely new. The villa demonstrates how Iranian cultural concepts can be transformed into fresh spatial experiences.
