Biography

German architect and structural engineer who pioneered lightweight tensile and membrane structures. Known for the Munich Olympic Stadium roof (1972), the Mannheim Multihalle, and the German Pavilion at Expo 67 in Montreal. He passed away shortly before the prize announcement.
