Korush Rafiei, Third Place
The figure of Sheikh Shahab al-Din Suhrawardi rises from a fissure of water ── the spirit of earth ── and stands exposed to the rays of light.
The cleft surface of the volume turns toward the city's Friday Mosque and stands in confrontation with it; but the building's main entrance lies on the northern flank, beside a street that is to be built. The height of the building has been kept lower than the commercial frontage of the square, so that, even as the building spreads in plan, it leaves the volumetric prospect in place for the commercial buildings.
