Amid Residential Building

Amid Residential Building in Tehran's Zafaraniyeh neighborhood, designed by Mahsa Majidi and Anousheh Ahmadi (Baghe Iranian Architecture Office), won joint Third Place in the Renovation category at the 13th Memar Award (2013). The project involved the renovation of a residential unit with a steel skeleton, where all components were stripped down to the building's frame and then repartitioned and refinished.

The core idea was derived from the lifestyle of the project's users: a young couple who, due to their extremely demanding work schedules, used their home solely for rest and socializing. The socializing cubes were formed to realize the spatial program of the project, with their primary properties being first "change" and second "spatial expansion." This approach to residential space has enabled functional flexibility and diverse spatial experiences within a built area of 180 square meters.
