Amirkabir Factory Gateway

سردر ورودی کارخانه فولاد امیرکبیر

Rasht, Iran

Completed

The gateway to the Amirkabir Steel Factory in Rasht is a striking sculptural entrance structure that serves as the industrial plant's main entry point. Designed by Esmaeel Talaee, Reza Sayadian, and Sara Kalantari, the gateway is composed of curved galvanized steel sheets that form a dramatic arch spanning the factory entrance. The structure's flowing, wave-like form references the industrial process of steel production while creating a powerful visual identity for the complex.

Selected as a jury selection at the 8th Memar Award (2008), the gateway was praised by jury member Mehrafshan who noted that "everyone who has seen this project has praised it — it has a sense of presence and its form is noteworthy." Jury member Ghaemi highlighted the "interesting scale of the gateway and the successful relationship between steel and the industrial context." The project demonstrates how architectural design can transform a purely functional element into a landmark. Total site area is 2,000 square meters with a built area of 1,500 square meters.
