Certosa di Firenze, Galluzzo

The Carthusian monastery is built a short distance from the southern walls of Florence, on top of a hill above the town of Galluzzo. Deliberately set apart from the everyday world to house those who have devoted their lives to contemplation of God, it consists of a series of spaces whose forms were determined by the precise rituals of daily monastic life.
