Earrings Residential Building in Tehran, won Second Place in the Apartment Buildings category at the 16th Memar Award (2016). The building's distinctive facade features ornamental concrete elements that give the project its name — resembling earrings adorning the building's face. These decorative projections serve dual purposes: creating a visually striking street presence while also functioning as sunshades that modulate light entering the living spaces.
The facade treatment goes beyond mere ornamentation. The concrete elements are carefully proportioned and positioned to respond to the building's orientation and the interior spatial requirements. On the street-facing sides, the projections provide privacy from neighboring buildings while maintaining residents' outward views. The pattern creates a play of light and shadow that changes throughout the day, giving the building a dynamic presence in the urban landscape.
The interior layouts prioritize spatial fluidity and natural light, with living areas oriented toward the most favorable exposures. The building demonstrates how a residential project in Tehran's dense fabric can achieve architectural distinction while addressing the practical challenges of privacy, light control, and urban integration.
