Grano Italian Restaurant in Tehran, designed by Hooman Balazadeh (Hooba Design Group), won joint Second Place in the Renovation category at the 13th Memar Award (2013). The project is located on a one-way street with main urban access, and its program involved the renovation and conversion of an electronics store into a restaurant. One of the key design goals was creating a continuous space from outside to inside, where the continuous physical flow of the design could define all interior and exterior elements.
The design technique emerged from two intersecting planes: Plane A defines color, while Plane B defines the space's lighting and furniture. The project has a total area of 75 square meters. This project demonstrates how a small commercial space can be transformed into a distinctive architectural work through a considered design approach.
