In the midst of this fervour Wright designed a small house in Madison, Wisconsin, for a young couple, Herbert and Katherine Jacobs. At the beginning of the century Wright had produced original and distinguished works of domestic architecture, and in 1936, at the age of 69, he imagined a single-family house once again. He completed it in under 1,500 square feet and for a total of 5,500 dollars.
