The Karim Khani Citadel (Arg-e Karimkhani) is a precious legacy of the Zandiyeh period (mid-18th century) in Shiraz. Built by Karim Khan Zand as his seat of government, the fortress covers 4,000 square meters of usable area on a 12,800-square-meter site. It features 12-meter-high brick walls with four 14-meter corner towers, a large courtyard with traditional Persian garden layout, exquisite brickwork patterns, colorful tile mosaics depicting Persian mythology, and stained glass windows.
