Pharmacological Academy, Yazd University of Medical Sciences

The Pharmacological Academy of Yazd University of Medical Sciences, designed by Polsheer Consulting Engineers, was shortlisted at the 3rd Memar Award (2003). This educational campus in Yazd draws deeply from the desert vernacular architecture of central Iran, with its earth-toned brick masses, enclosed courtyards, and fortress-like silhouette that echoes the historic fabric of Yazd.

The complex employs thick-walled construction, deep-set windows, and interlocking volumes of varying heights to create a climatically responsive campus suited to the extreme heat of Yazd. The arrangement of classroom blocks, laboratories, and common areas around shaded courts follows time-tested desert urbanism principles while accommodating modern pharmaceutical education requirements. Reflected in the adjacent water feature, the building's profile reads as a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Yazdi skyline.
