Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman (formerly the National University of Kerman) is a comprehensive university campus designed by Yousef Shariatzadeh of Bonyad Consulting Engineers, commissioned by philanthropist Alireza Afzalipour in 1972. The 400-hectare campus features a modular, department-centered master plan with interconnected three-story building blocks arranged around green courtyards, inspired by traditional desert city fabric. Its intelligent architecture — with 1.5-meter base modules, integrated utility conduits, and connecting bridges — allows adaptation to new needs without demolition. The campus was nominated for the Aga Khan Award in 1989.
