2nd Place: S. & H. Khosravani Elementary School, Khomein

Partager

Khosravani Elementary School has an internal structure suited to the region's climatic conditions and is situated at the intersection of two main streets and one secondary street. A unified brick and stone facade has been designed for both sides of the building, with the materials penetrating into the interior to produce a homogeneous and harmonious appearance.

Materials were selected based on local availability and the skill of the workforce in this rural area. The school has two entrances: the students' entrance on the secondary street, adjacent to a small garden, and a main entrance designed for emergency and safety access.

The building's windows feature white frames and glass panels, while the first-floor classrooms have coloured frames to make the environment more enjoyable for students and to subtly emphasise the educational function of the building. To the west of the school lies a cemetery, which is why the building has no large windows on that side. Nevertheless, to maintain the facade's compositional structure, the rectangular form of the coloured glass panels on the main street side is echoed through brick recesses with coloured borders and narrow vertical window strips facing the street.
