Garden Walls

In the typically eastwest residential streets of Tehran, the norm is to have the building always on the usually sixty percent foot- print that falls on the northern section of a plot. In other words, the garden is always situated on the south. As a result, on one side of such streets is a row of buildings, and on other, garden walls. There are however, exceptions where a front garden was preferred on a southern plot, at times combined with an open stair. The garden walls make use of the car entrance door, and the main door, for eye catching combinations and details such as using slits and separating the wall from the ground. One detail was the use of large stone panels that would be held in place in steel brackets.

Band of ceramic mosaics between white travertine and coarse grey skirting, and above top travertine. Horizontal slit in the middle of stonework. The thinness of stone shown as capping expresses fineness. Steel door is designed in line with the patio wall concept: horizontal band is in line with the slit.
