11TH MEMAR AWARD - RENOVATION - FIRST PLACE
Amir Villa
Architect: Alireza Taghaboni (Nextoffice) | Memar 70 | Dec-Jan 2011-2012
Jury Commentary
Mehdi Alizadeh: Exterior material selection is uniform, smooth and calm. Interior material selection and surface arrangement have a very pleasing contrast. The design approach with setbacks in two parts of the plan and preservation of trees is a precious innovation. The program reflects a new balance in both contrast and the spacing of desired activities in the space.
Seyyed Reza Hashemi: For success in converting an obsolete old building into a completely new and attractive contemporary architecture for a contemporary life, and creating a beautiful and diverse composition using materials with Iranian texture and color.
Kamran Afshar Naderi: Attention to the outdoor space as an extension of indoor spatial concepts. Achieving an attractive yet simple form. Attention to the aesthetics of vernacular architecture and use of the language of contemporary architecture. Achieving a simple but very effective method of blending old and new, and its valorization in both interior and exterior design. Coherent relationship between part and whole.
