Grano Italian Restaurant, Tehran
2nd Place (Tied) — Renovation
The project involved renovating and converting an electrical appliance store into a restaurant on a one-way street along a major urban thoroughfare. One design goal was to create continuous space from exterior to interior, where the physical flow could define all interior and exterior elements (entrance sign, lighting, ceiling, walls, furniture, and interior displays).
Another goal was creating diverse perspectives from different angles inside and outside the project. The design technique emerged from two interlocking surfaces: Surface A defines color (with abstract warm-toned images printed on the strips), and Surface B defines lighting and furniture. Total built area: 75 sqm.
