About This Edition
The 25th Memar Award was held in 2025, continuing the competition's tradition with judging conducted in two stages in Shahrivar and Mehr. From 239 submitted projects across four categories — Individual Dwellings, Apartment Buildings, Public Buildings, and Renovation — 46 advanced to the semifinal. In the final stage, 31 projects became finalists, from which 12 winners were selected and one project received special commendation. The jury comprised Nasrin Seraji, Ameneh Bakhtiar, Ehsan Hoseini, Afshin Farzin, and Han Tumertekin from Turkey. Tumertekin replaced Tao Zhu, whose visa was not issued in time. The ceremony screened the film 'Our Beautiful and Colorful Motherland Iran.' Notable moments included the unprecedented unanimous vote in the Public Buildings category, where all five jurors selected the same first, second, and third place projects — Voocho Cultural Complex, Metro Station No. 1 Chaharbagh, and Dar Divar.

Judging Process
Judging was conducted in four stages across four categories (Individual Dwellings, Apartment Buildings, Public Buildings, and Renovation): Stage 1 — Elimination: All projects within each category were presented together for the jury's review. Each juror had colored stickers in their designated color; at this stage, each sticker represented a negative vote. Even if a single juror voted to keep a project, it was not eliminated. The remaining projects advanced to the semifinal (46 of 239). Stage 2 — Finalist Selection: From the semifinal projects, each juror selected their preferred projects using positive-vote stickers, without ranking. Projects receiving no positive votes were eliminated. The selected projects became finalists (31 projects). Stage 3 — Ranking: Each juror independently selected their first, second, and third choices from among the finalists. 3 points were awarded for first place, 2 points for second, and 1 point for third. The sum determined the final rankings in each category. Stage 4 — Special Commendation: Jurors could designate certain finalists as worthy of commendation, writing a brief statement of reasons. With agreement from the others, the designation was confirmed. Journey Cafe in Shiraz received this honor for its conscious attention to urban spatial quality.
