13th Memar Award — Jury Report

The 13th Memar Award competition was conducted in two stages. In the first stage, designers submitted 215 projects. The jury — Dr. Syrous Bavar, Eng. Iraj Kalantari, Dr. Esmaeel Talaei, and Eng. Mohammad Majidi — selected the semifinalists in each of three categories.

Mehrdad Yazdani, an Iranian architect based in the United States, joined the jury for the second stage held on 20–21 Mehr (October 2013). The jury selected finalists and winners through a systematic scoring process with colored stickers and point-based ranking.

Judging Methodology

All projects in each category were displayed together. Each juror had colored stickers; in the first round, stickers indicated negative votes. Projects unanimously rejected by all five jurors were eliminated. The remaining projects became semifinalists.

From the semifinalists, each juror selected their top three using positive stickers. After discussion, jurors voted again. For ranking, each juror assigned 1 to 3 points. In case of ties, a 0–10 point second round was used.
