
Iranian architect born in 1959 in Shiraz. He studied architecture at the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning at Shahid Beheshti University and has been active in design and construction since 1981, with a focus on residential projects. He has designed more than four projects at Pardis Technology Park, and his other notable works include the redesign of the Darak Residential Project in Shiraz and the Laleh Residential Project in Qom. Two of his projects—the Vizheh Graphics Headquarters and the Khojir Villa—were among the selected projects of the 1st Memar Award in 2001. He served as a juror for the 18th Memar Award in 2018.

Mehrdad Iravanian was born 1957, Shiraz, Iran . He studied architecture at University of South Western Louisiana, USA IN 1982 . he began his career by conceptual architectural exhibitions. He opened his private practice at beginning of nineties in Shiraz. During these years he designed and worked on architectural landscape and urban design

The 18th Memar Award (2018) competition was held in two stages. In the first stage, conducted as an elimination round on September 10-11, 2018, 130 projects advanced to the semifinals from 297 submissions across four categories: Individual Dwellings, Apartment Buildings, Renovation, and Public Buildings. The second stage of judging took place on October 7-8, where 34 projects advanced to the finals, and 16 were selected as winners and honoured projects. The jury consisted of Shamil Mohammadzadeh, Mehrdad Iravanian, Bernard Dror, Mohammadreza Ghoddousi, and Zdeněk Fránek from the Czech Republic.

Projects were divided into four categories: Apartment Buildings, Individual Dwellings, Public Buildings, and Renovation. Stage 1: All projects in each category were viewed together by jurors. Projects unanimously rejected were eliminated; even one supporting juror kept a project in. Stage 2: Each juror selected their top projects (positive vote) from the semifinalists. Projects with zero positive votes were eliminated; remaining projects became finalists. Stage 3: Each juror individually ranked their top three from the finalists (3 points for 1st, 2 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd). Combined scores determined the final placements. Stage 4: Jurors could nominate finalists for special recognition (honourable mention) by unanimous agreement.
